Understanding the impact of rapid change on the drive towards diversity is a priority for our team. We are currently working with partners to support organisations in developing diversity and inclusion strategies in the following areas:
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
“The defining challenge of our time.”, according to the International Monetary Fund.
The implications for gender equality and employment diversity, of new technologies are only just beginning to be considered. They range from the importing of unconscious bias into AI and machine learning to the potentially disproportionate impact on jobs held by women.
COVID 19 and the female workforce
An increasing body of evidence is demonstrating the concerning impact of COVID 19 on female employees as the burden of caring responsibilities and job losses resulting from the pandemic are falling especially heavily upon women. In the rush to combat the devastating effects of the pandemic on the global economy there is a danger that diversity initiatives will be seen as a low priority amongst the efforts to revitalize a damaged global economy.
It is vital that profound challenges such as introducing new technologies and our response to the pandemic do not come at the cost of inclusive practice, as the consequences will be long-term and potentially very costly to reverse.
